The Glyptothek of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts presents an exhibition by Josip Baće, an academic graphic artist and professor, an author who is an inseparable part of contemporary Croatian art with his works of art, photographs, video installations and performances. And in the latest cycle of photographs, Baće continues to explore human conditions, building on the cycle My Family started in 2008.
At the exhibition in the Glyptotheque of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Josip Baće will present twenty black and white photographs, taken in the last two years on the topic of intimacy. Through a series of photographs, the artist depicts portraits of similar and close people, linked by blood relationship, friendship, love, affection or common interests. The photos represent people he knows and love, some of whom are twins, brothers, friends or spouses. All these persons are characterized by one common characteristic, and that is closeness.
The latest cycle of photographs is also interesting in the context of today's world, when modern technologies take over all forms of social interaction, and social distance becomes imperative - more important than ever before. " , interdependencies, perceiving one's fragile and changing identities, changing oneself and others, and still being close ”.
