Glyptotheque is an integral part of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts - a museum of sculpture that gives insight into sculptural creativity from ancient times up to the present day, and with this purpose it is a unique institution in Croatia. Presentation of capital sculptures at one place emphasizes the educational significance of a collection that can meet the general, professional, and scientific interests.

In 1982, Glyptotheque founded the Triennial of Croatian Sculpture, which, through its thirty six-year tradition, has been characterized as a recognizable national event, which present best achievements in the field of contemporary sculpture to the Croatian public.
